Google and Microsoft enhance browser security against scams

Major web browsers are implementing new security features to combat deceptive online threats. Microsoft Edge has introduced an AI-powered Scareware Blocker designed to detect and stop psychological manipulation tactics. This feature identifies websites that attempt to hijack the browsing experience through forced full-screen modes, aggressive audio alerts, and fake system warnings that mimic legitimate Windows Security notifications.

Similarly, Google Chrome is rolling out enhanced warning systems to protect users from malicious websites. Under its Enhanced Protection mode, Chrome provides two levels of alerts: a standard pop-up for sites deemed unreliable, and a high-intensity red full-screen warning for sites identified as dangerous. These updates aim to prevent users from falling victim to social engineering, malware, and fraudulent tech support scams.
