Google expands Pixel scam detection and introduces new features

Google has released its September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop for Pixel 6 and newer devices. A major component of the update is the expansion of Scam Detection in Messages, which now supports seven languages: English, Portuguese, German, Spanish, Arabic, French, and Japanese. This feature is rolling out across several regions, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and France.

In Canada, Scam Detection will appear in notifications to flag suspicious chats with a “Likely scam” warning. In the US, a similar warning will be integrated into Gboard when responding to suspicious messages.

Other updates include: - Pixel VIPs: Users can now add home screen shortcuts to call or text specific contacts and utilize glanceable notification badges. - Pause Point: A feature for Pixel 6 and newer that introduces a pause before opening distracting apps to reduce unintentional usage. - Pixel Watch Improvements: Enhanced “Raise To Talk” functionality and a new one-handed pinch gesture for the notification tray on Pixel Watch 4 and 5. - Harry Potter Audiobook Packs: Themed wallpapers, icons, and system sounds are available through December 31, accompanied by an Audible trial offer.
