Google Scam Detection feature expansion

Overview

Google is expanding its AI-powered Scam Detection capabilities across the Android ecosystem. Initial developments indicated the feature, which uses on-device artificial intelligence to identify fraudulent call patterns in real time, was being extended to manufacturers beyond Pixel and Samsung, including Xiaomi and potentially Vivo.

The rollout covers multiple global regions, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and France. In Canada, the feature utilizes notifications to flag suspicious chats with a ‘Likely scam’ warning, while in the US, warnings are integrated into Gboard during message responses.
