Google fitness tracker likely under development following FCC filing

A new wireless device has passed through FCC certification, which evidence suggests is a Google-made fitness tracker powered by Wear OS. The device, identified by the model number G8BL6, is manufactured by Weifang Goertek Electronics Co., a company previously responsible for producing Google's Fitbit Air.

Technical details from the filing indicate the device features a screen, as regulatory information is accessed through a settings menu identical to the method used on the Pixel Watch. While the device includes Bluetooth LE and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) capabilities, it notably lacks Wi-Fi.

Speculation suggests the hardware could be a successor to the Fitbit Charge line or a new form factor for the Wear OS platform, following similar mystery wearable imagery seen in recent Google marketing materials.
