Google unveils Fitbit Edge fitness tracker

Google has officially unveiled the Fitbit Edge, a new premium fitness tracker designed to bridge the gap between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. Priced at $179.99, the device is scheduled to arrive in stores on October 27, 2026.

The Fitbit Edge features a 1.34-inch AMOLED display, which is significantly larger and brighter than its predecessor, the Charge 6. Constructed with a recycled aluminum chassis, the tracker is 11.5 mm thick and weighs approximately 17.7 grams. Key hardware improvements include a built-in GPS with enhanced accuracy, an altimeter, and a modular internal design that allows for a user-replaceable battery.

Health monitoring capabilities are a central focus, with the device supporting over 50 exercise modes and automatic detection for up to 100 activities. It includes advanced sensors for heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature, and an ECG app for detecting atrial fibrillation. Additionally, the tracker introduces the Google Health Coach, an AI-driven feature powered by Gemini that provides personalized fitness and health insights.

Subscribers to Google Health Premium can access expanded features, including the Health Guardian suite for tracking long-term trends in blood pressure and insulin resistance. A special Stephen Curry edition will also be available for $219.99 in select markets.
