Google and partners unveil 750 AI projects in Vietnam
Google and its partners have announced the results of the AI Riser Vietnam 2026 initiative, showcasing 750 AI projects developed to address specific socio-economic challenges in Vietnam. During the Applied AI Lab Demo Day in Ho Chi Minh City, 10 standout projects were highlighted, including SightBridge AI, which assists visually impaired individuals using computer vision, and ScamLens, a tool designed to detect online fraud.
The Applied AI Lab, a collaborative research model co-founded by VNG Group, Saigon AI Hub (SAIH), and Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, is supported by the Google AI Futures Fund. The program has successfully completed its first research cycle involving nearly 60 researchers and is now launching a second cohort focused on a “commissioned” research model to drive commercialization.
In a broader context of digital transformation, forums in Hanoi have discussed the evolution of smart cities toward “Agent City” models, where AI agents move beyond simple data monitoring to active, coordinated urban management and predictive capabilities.
