Google launches Nuvem transatlantic fiber cable connecting Portugal, Bermuda and the United States

Google has officially inaugurated the Nuvem transatlantic submarine cable system, a 7,000‑kilometre network comprising 16 fiber‑optic pairs with a total capacity of about 384 terabits per second. The route runs from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, through Bermuda and the Azores to the landing station at Sines, Portugal.

The new digital corridor is intended to increase bandwidth, improve resilience of international internet traffic, and support the growing demand for cloud, AI and financial services. Google expects the system to become operational by 2027, adding to its earlier Atlantic projects such as the Equiano and Fermina cables.
