Google offers 10,000 AI scholarships while Colombia rolls out free AI courses

Google has announced a programme of 10,000 scholarships for study in artificial intelligence, data analysis, cybersecurity and related technologies. The scholarships provide free access to Google Career Certificate programs on Coursera and are currently open to candidates in Argentina and Chile, with a rollout planned for Colombia. Recipients can complete the certificates in three to six months with a weekly commitment of under ten hours, and the programme reports that about 70% of graduates experience a positive career outcome within six months.

Separately, Colombia's Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MinTIC) has launched the Ciberpaz initiative, a partnership with the University of Pamplona offering six free online AI courses. The programme targets roughly 15,000 participants nationwide by 2026 and focuses on employability, gender inclusion, entrepreneurship, peacebuilding and digital creativity. Registration is handled through a simple two‑step Moodle sign‑up process.
