Google Photos introduces AI-powered Virtual Closet

Google has launched a new feature for Google Photos called the ‘Virtual Closet’, which uses artificial intelligence to manage and visualize personal clothing collections. The tool automatically analyzes a user's existing photo gallery to identify, inventory, and tag various items of clothing, such as jackets, t-shirts, and footwear, without requiring manual input.

By integrating Gemini AI, the feature allows users to virtually try on different outfits. Users can request specific combinations—such as pairing blue jeans with a particular brand of t-shirt and sneakers—and the AI will generate an image showing how the outfit would look on their body. The tool also provides personalized outfit recommendations based on the user's current wardrobe and allows for adjustments to lighting or specific details via text prompts.

Currently, the rollout is limited to users in the United States, and Google has not yet announced a specific release date for other regions. The feature is available to Google Photos users at no additional cost.
