Google Photos introduces AI Wardrobe feature and privacy tools

Google has released several updates for the Google Photos application. A major new feature called ‘Wardrobe’ uses artificial intelligence to identify clothing and accessories in user photos, creating a digital closet. This feature allows users to categorize items by type, such as tops or jewelry, and create new styles. Currently, Wardrobe is available on iOS and Android but is limited to users in the United States, India, and Brazil.

Additionally, Google introduced ‘Redact,’ a tool designed to protect privacy by allowing users to obscure sensitive information in screenshots, such as license plates, addresses, or account numbers. This tool is being distributed globally on Android and includes modes like Mosaic and Blur. The updated Markup feature also includes enhanced precision sliders and new fonts.

Separately, users of Google Pixel devices have reported a software bug within the Google Photos app. Following certain editing actions, such as cropping an image, the application becomes unresponsive to commands like sharing, editing, or deleting. While initially reported on the Pixel 11 Pro XL, the issue appears to affect older models, including the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10. Standard troubleshooting steps, such as clearing the app cache, have reportedly failed to resolve the problem.
