Google Pixel 11 introduces AI-driven Magic Capture camera features

Google has launched the Pixel 11 series, introducing significant updates to its camera software via Pixel Camera v11.0. A central new feature is ‘Magic Capture’, which uses AI and Gemini to analyze video footage in real-time. While recording up to two minutes of video, the system automatically identifies and saves high-quality 12MP still images of key moments, such as smiles or sudden movements.

On Pro models (Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold), users can leverage Video Boost to record Magic Capture sessions in 4K 10-bit HDR, though standard resolution is limited to 1080p. Users also retain the ability to manually select specific frames from a video to save as photos.

However, the software update has faced criticism regarding user interface design. The new system replaces traditional sliders with customizable adjustment wheels that are disabled by default, requiring users to navigate through settings to activate them. Additionally, the control interface remains hidden in the viewfinder until the screen is tapped, which some users find unintuitive.
