Google Pixel features AI-driven animated wallpapers and LED customization
New developments for Google Pixel devices suggest upcoming AI-powered features and enhanced hardware customization. Code discovered in the Android 17 QPR2 beta indicates a feature codenamed ‘catsmile’ that allows users to transform static photographs into short animated wallpapers using generative AI models.
The animation process is expected to run in the background and requires an internet connection. While specific limits on daily generations or subscription requirements are currently unknown, the code includes provisions for service terms, privacy policies, and user feedback mechanisms.
Additionally, a new application called HiLight Plus has launched on the Google Play Store, specifically targeting the Pixel 11 Pro series. The app expands the functionality of the device's rear LED, which is natively limited to favorite calls and Gemini. HiLight Plus allows users to customize the LED color, sequence, and patterns for specific contacts, various applications like WhatsApp or Google Meet, and even as a visual charging indicator.
