Google rolls out new Photos features amid Pixel update issues

Google is rolling out new features to Google Photos on Android devices, including ‘Moods’. These AI-supported styles analyze photo details to apply high-quality aesthetic changes rather than simple color filters. The update also introduces an improved markup tool featuring a pen for obscuring sensitive information, adjustable stroke widths, and new fonts.

However, recent software updates have caused significant issues for some Pixel users. Reports indicate that the September Pixel Drop and Android 17 QPR1 updates have led to problems unlocking devices. Affected users across various models, including the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 8a, and Pixel 8 Pro, have reported being unable to enter PINs or patterns, with some devices requiring a factory reset to regain access. Other users reported devices freezing or experiencing black screens following the installation. Google is reportedly investigating these issues.
