Google releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1 with Pixel 11 support
Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 and Beta 6.1, expanding the testing program to include the full Pixel 11 lineup, including the Pixel 11 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold. The updates focus on system stability, bug fixes, and security enhancements.
Key features introduced or refined include ‘HiLight’ for Messages, which allows users to assign specific colors to favorite contacts, and ‘Extreme charging’ for faster power delivery on Pixel 11 models. Security improvements include stricter restrictions on programmatic USSD call-forwarding to prevent malicious redirection of calls and SMS.
Technical refinements address previous issues such as status bar visual glitches, blank screens during charging, and unexpected reboots when third-party apps access the camera and microphone. A known issue for Pixel 11 Pro Fold users may require re-enrolling Face Unlock data following the update. The beta is available via OTA for compatible devices ranging from the Pixel 6a to the Pixel 11 series.
