Google tests redesign for Messages, Phone, and Contacts apps

Google is rolling out visual updates and interface redesigns for several Android applications, including Google Messages, Phone by Google, and Google Contacts.

Google Messages is testing a significant homepage redesign in its beta channel. Key changes include a new layout for pinned chats that elevates large contact photos above the conversation list, a bottom-centered floating search button to improve one-handed usability, and the relocation of the Gemini shortcut to the top-right corner.

Additionally, Google is introducing a refreshed icon design for Messages, Phone, and Contacts. The new icons utilize more refined gradients, specifically blue and purple tones, to create a more cohesive visual identity across its suite of communication apps. These icon updates affect only the home screen symbols and do not alter the internal menus or functionality of the services.
