Google to launch Googlebook premium laptops with pre-orders on September 21

Google is set to launch a new category of premium hardware called ‘Googlebooks’, with pre-orders scheduled to begin on September 21 at 9 a.m. ET. The devices will run on ‘Googlebook OS’, a new operating system designed to merge the capabilities of ChromeOS and Android.

Unlike previous Chromebooks aimed at the budget market, Googlebooks are positioned as premium devices. Google will not manufacture the hardware itself, instead partnering with manufacturers including Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell, and HP.

Leaked specifications for the Lenovo Googlebook 15 reveal a 15.3-inch 120 Hz OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, up to 32 GB of RAM, and facial authentication technology. The platform will also feature Gemini-integrated tools, such as the ‘Magic Pointer’, which is expected to be a marquee branding element across the device lineup.
