Google to remove Gmail third-party account integration features

Google has announced that starting in January 2027, Gmail will discontinue several features that allow users to integrate third-party email accounts.

The changes will specifically impact the ‘Send mail as’ functionality, which allows users to send messages from Gmail using external addresses like Outlook or Yahoo. Additionally, Google will end support for fetching messages from external accounts and the ‘Gmailify’ feature, which enables Gmail-specific tools like spam protection and inbox organization on non-Google accounts.

Google stated that these features require disproportionate resources to maintain and that the decision is intended to support long-term efforts to keep Gmail secure and easy to use. The restrictions will not affect Google Workspace aliases.
