Google updates Google One storage and photo management features
Google is developing new features for its Google One subscription service to improve storage management and account sharing. A new function called ‘Connected Accounts’ is currently in development, which would allow primary plan managers to extend storage benefits and specific AI features to secondary personal accounts without requiring them to join a formal Family Group.
To maintain privacy, data such as photos, files, documents, and Gemini chats will remain private to each individual account.
Additionally, users managing Google Photos storage are cautioned about the synchronization settings. By default, deleting photos from the Google Photos cloud also removes them from linked devices. To prevent this, users can utilize a ‘revert backup for this device’ setting or manually disable ‘Backup & Sync’ to ensure images remain on their smartphones while being cleared from the cloud to free up space.
