Googlebook laptops unveiled in leaks from Lenovo and Asus
Leaked images and renders have revealed details of the upcoming Googlebook line, a new generation of laptops that will run on Google’s Android‑based "Aluminum OS" and feature deep Gemini AI integration. Lenovo’s Googlebook 15 is shown with a white‑silver chassis, a dedicated Google "G" key, a Caps Lock‑launcher, a slim port selection (USB‑C, USB‑A, HDMI, 3.5 mm jack) and a privacy webcam shutter. The device is speculated to use a Qualcomm‑designed "Calypso" 12‑core processor, though specifications remain unconfirmed.
Asus’s CX9406 model, displayed in a dark‑gray finish, also carries the Google "G" key and a glowing LED "Glowbar" above the logo. The chassis is described as "Ultra‑Ceramic Light Alloy", claimed to be 34 % lighter and 13 % stronger than typical laptops, with a weight under one kilogram. Port layout mirrors Lenovo’s design, and the device likewise runs Aluminum OS.
Both manufacturers are expected to showcase their Googlebooks at the IFA trade show in September, but pricing, official specifications and a public OS name have not been announced. The leaks have sparked speculation about the devices’ performance, repairability, and how they will differentiate from traditional Chromebooks.
