Gorj county rolls out electronic ID cards at mall and caravan

From 25 June 2026 residents of Gorj county can obtain the new electronic identity card (Carte Electronică de Identitate) at Shopping City Târgu Jiu, where population‑registry staff will be on site. The service, funded by EU programmes, is free for citizens aged 14 and over; a statutory fee applies for minors under 14.

A travelling “caravan” will operate on 30 June 2026 at the Bolboși town hall, allowing applicants from Bolboși and surrounding villages to submit requests. The same eligibility rules apply, and applicants must present birth certificates and, where relevant, marriage or divorce documents. The electronic card offers enhanced security, digital identification capability and a credit‑card‑sized format.

Both initiatives aim to modernise public services, improve document security and facilitate access to digital public‑sector services across Gorj.
