Gostivar water crisis: SDSM demands full report after 5,000 hospitalizations

The SDSM political party is demanding the immediate release of the full water analysis report for Gostivar, six weeks after a mass poisoning incident that resulted in over 5,000 hospitalizations.

Critics point to conflicting information provided during the crisis, noting that water safety status shifted from unsafe for drinking to being restricted to technical use, and later to reports of bacterial presence. While Health Minister Saško Klevkoski has announced that an epidemiological report will be released on August 20, the SDSM questions why only fragments of documentation have been shared rather than the complete analysis.

The party is calling on Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and Minister Klevkoski to provide transparency regarding who authorized the water to be returned to drinking status and what specific results guarantee its safety.
