Gostivar water quality nears safety for drinking

Water quality in Gostivar is approaching levels safe for consumption and drinking. According to the Local Crisis Staff, recent microbiological analyses have yielded favorable results, and measurements indicate that chlorine levels, which were previously high due to disinfection efforts, are returning to permitted limits.

Zudi Xhelili, coordinator of the Local Crisis Staff, stated that a final decision regarding the lifting of the drinking water ban is expected following a meeting of the Central Crisis Staff. While microbiological results have been stable for some time, officials are awaiting further tests to confirm the stabilization of chlorine levels.

Authorities are also working to stabilize the water supply in areas experiencing low pressure or shortages. Efforts include completing a reservoir in Gorna Banjica to improve supply to the southern part of the municipality, including Gorna, Dolna Banjica, Ciglana, and Fazanerija. In villages like Debreshe, where supply remains limited, the situation is being managed through water tankers and the distribution of packaged water.
