Gouda’s Festival de Verwondering expands venues as Hoogwoud’s Karavaan Festival runs through June

Festival de Verwondering, a three‑day cultural festival in Gouda, added two new locations for its September 17‑19 edition – Café Correct, which will host a tent and stage, and the Raoul Wallenberg Square. Existing sites such as Vroesentuin, Zeugstraat, Nieuwe Markt, Kleiweg and Achter de Waag remain. Acts announced for Café Correct include gypsy‑soul group Tigre Blanco, singer‑songwriter Ed Struijlaart and the heavy‑metal marching band Blaas of Glory. The expansion is partly due to renovation of the Old City Hall and the Saturday market.

In the West‑Friesland village of Hoogwoud, the Karavaan Festival presents the musical theatre production “Verdronken Land”, based on Renske Jonkman’s novel, at the Adriaans Paradijs venue. The show, directed by Marcel Sijm with new music by Erik van der Horst, follows the Krijn and Lucas brothers and their sister Janna as they confront modernization of their 1956 polder farmland. The production runs until 7 June, addressing themes of tradition, land use and sustainability.
