Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh announces major sports and infrastructure projects for Aden
Governor of Yemen’s capital, Abdulrahman Sheikh, met with Youth and Sports Minister Naif Al‑Bakri to review the city’s sports sector. They discussed ongoing stadium renovations funded by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program, a timeline for completing the projects, and plans to build Aden’s first Olympic‑size swimming pool. The officials also outlined preparations for upcoming summer camps coordinated with the ministries of education and sports to engage youth.
In a separate extensive meeting, Sheikh chaired senior officials to unveil a comprehensive development plan targeting Aden’s chronic infrastructure deficits. The agenda includes road upgrades across several districts (e.g., from the Security Administration roundabout to the Culture roundabout, and the northern ring road), installation of sewage pumping stations, extension of hot‑water electricity lines, deployment of solar power systems, and construction of three new water‑desalination plants in Khur Makassar, Sira, Al‑Mala, and Al‑Tawahi. The initiatives aim to improve daily services for residents and serve as a model for other districts.
