Venezuela launches national vacation recreation plan
Governor Arnaldo Sánchez of Mérida announced the "Venezuela Renace 2026" vacation program, offering cultural, sports and recreational activities for children, youth and seniors across all municipalities from 1 to 30 August. The initiative is part of a broader effort to promote community well‑being during the summer holidays.
President (e) Delcy Rodríguez officially launched the Plan Nacional de Recreación Vacacional, emphasizing its role in restoring mental health and providing safe, inclusive spaces for families nationwide. Committees of physical‑activity and recreation specialists have been created in 107 temporary camps to supervise the program.
The plan was simultaneously activated regionally under the name "Venezuela Ríe". In Lara, Cojedes and other states, more than 700 recreators and volunteers organized events for hundreds of children and adolescents, using community centres, sports facilities and public plazas. The rollout aims to ensure that every Venezuelan family can enjoy a secure and joyful vacation period.
