Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof Defends Production Amid Economic Criticism

Governor Axel Kicillof led a multi‑sector business round in Buenos Aires, bringing together more than 330 small and medium‑sized enterprises. He blamed the national administration of President Javier Milei for what he called a "historic catastrophe," citing the loss of over 300,000 formal jobs, the closure of 26,000 companies and a surge in household debt. Kicillof argued that the government's economic plan seeks to desindustrialise the country and undermine local production, and pledged provincial support to protect industry and employment.

In a separate interview, Mariano Carrillo, head of the Consorcio de Gestión de Puerto Quequén, praised Kicillof’s leadership, stating that the Buenos Aires province is a key defender of national production. Carrillo highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects at the Quequén port, continued normal operations following authorization by the national ports agency, and future plans for a secure road corridor and avenue upgrades, all backed by provincial ministries.

Both officials emphasized cooperation between provincial authorities and the private sector to strengthen Argentina’s productive capacity.
