Governor Axel Kicillof's political tour draws criticism from interior minister and Buenos Aires mayor

Governor Axel Kicillof of Buenos Aires Province scheduled a visit to Corrientes on March 3 to present his book and hold meetings with local officials. Interior Minister Diego Santilli mocked the trip on X, questioning whether Kicillof now governs Corrientes and suggesting he needs a GPS to navigate Buenos Aires, highlighting the friction between the Milei administration and the Peronist governor.

At a separate ceremony in Buenos Aires, city mayor Jorge Macri praised the 650 newly graduated police officers and, while honoring fallen city firefighters, warned that his city would act as “a wall against the barbarism and misgovernment of Kicillof.” He framed the city’s security strategy as a stark contrast to the provincial approach.

The event also included tributes to the firefighters who died in the line of duty and announced the immediate deployment of the new police force to the streets, underscoring the city’s focus on public safety amid the broader political dispute.
