Governor Carlos Brandão holds rally in Itaqui-Bacanga and tours historic restoration in São Luís
On July 6, 2026 a large political event took place in the Itaqui‑Bacanga area of São Luís, bringing together Governor Carlos Brandão, gubernatorial candidate Orleans Brandão and former mayor Edivaldo Holanda Jr., alongside hundreds of residents, community leaders and local politicians. Brandão stressed the strategic importance of the neighbourhood and praised his partnership with Edivaldo, while Orleans announced a mobility project for the more than 250,000 inhabitants. Edivaldo recalled his long‑standing ties to the area.
Earlier, Governor Brandão inspected the restoration of the Odylo Costa Filho complex in São Luís’s historic centre, part of a state‑led programme that includes over 20 heritage sites funded by state, federal and private sources. He emphasized the technical rigor required, noting that IPHAN approval is needed for even basic works, and highlighted the project’s role in boosting tourism and the local economy.
