Governor Daniel Vilela Launches Parque Serrinha Revitalization in Goiânia

Governor Daniel Vilela of Goiás signed the service order to begin work on the Parque Serrinha Jornalista Jaime Câmara on July 2. The project will transform the former Morro da Serrinha site into an urban park featuring native Cerrado vegetation, walking trails, cultural spaces, a pet area, outdoor gym, children’s playgrounds, LED lighting and a 90‑metre tower to be painted by artists.

The governor said the park will become "a new postcard for the capital," highlighting its significance as one of the few remaining native‑vegetation areas in Goiânia. The state plans to plant five thousand native seedlings and maintain the area through 2030. The construction, estimated at R$ 15 million, is slated for completion in 12 months and is being carried out by the Opus construction firm, which also designed the landscaping. The project is a finalist for the National Association of Public Transport award 2025 and competes in the federal "Cidades Verdes Resilientes" programme. Mayor Sandro Mabel called the development a "gift for Goiânia and its residents."

Secretary‑General of Government Gean Carvalho described the park as a symbolic space that had long suffered from vandalism and insecurity, asserting that its requalification will dramatically change the area and become a landmark for visitation and community life.
