Governor Eduardo Ramírez inaugurates basketball court and starts auto‑employment program in Chiapas

Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar, together with former NBA player Eduardo Nájera, opened a rehabilitated basketball court in the San José Terán neighborhood of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. The ceremony highlighted the administration’s effort to restore safe sports and recreation spaces for children and youth, with Nájera signing autographs and urging youngsters to use basketball as a pathway to academic and professional opportunities.

Ramírez also launched the “Autoempleo que Transforma” initiative, a joint program of the state secretariats of Humanism and Economy and Labor. The scheme will provide economic aid, training, equipment and social security to 200 beneficiaries—predominantly women—in courses such as tailoring, electricity, pastry and snack production. The goal is to expand entrepreneurship, improve family incomes and strengthen economic autonomy in Chiapas.
