Governor Freddy Bernal warns of up to 10‑hour power cuts in Venezuela's Táchira

Governor Freddy Bernal of Táchira state said communities are enduring power outages lasting up to ten continuous hours, with some areas experiencing cuts of 20 hours. He described the situation as “unsustainable and very severe,” noting that water pumping stops during the blackouts, leaving residents without electricity or water.

Bernal said he has appealed to the national Minister of Electricity, the Minister of Water, the Vice‑presidency of Public Services and, in the coming days, to Delcy Rodríguez, head of the Venezuelan administration, demanding solutions. He blamed the crisis on a combination of climate factors and systemic problems, saying the power‑load management plan now causes far longer cuts than the intended four‑hour rotations.
