Governor Hyacinth Alia launches advisory team as Benue faces deadly gunmen attack

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State inaugurated a 15‑member Economic and Policy Advisory Team in Makurdi, tasking members with evidence‑based governance, job creation, investment attraction and sustainable growth for the state.

A few days later, Alia vowed to protect residents after gunmen attacked the Efeyi community in the Ugboju District of Otukpo, killing dozens and injuring many. He praised the Benue Police Command for neutralising two suspected attackers and pledged that those responsible would be brought to justice. The attack occurred shortly after Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu announced a special 14‑day security operation to flush out criminal elements across Benue.
