Buenos Aires Governor Kicillof launches $14 bn leasing programme for municipal infrastructure

Governor Axel Kicillof and Banco Provincia president Juan Cuattromo led a ceremony in La Plata where municipalities of Buenos Aires Province signed leasing contracts worth more than $14 billion. The agreements, part of the “Línea Municipios 2026” programme, will enable local governments to obtain capital goods such as road‑machinery, vehicles, health and safety equipment, and other urban‑service assets.

Kicillof said the tool is especially relevant in “the difficult context we are going through,” adding that many districts lack the resources to fund large‑scale investments on their own. The governor also highlighted the province’s micro‑credit scheme, which provides subsidised loans to entrepreneurs in several municipalities. Banco Provincia pledged to continue working with all districts “regardless of political colour.”

The contracts cover municipalities including Avellaneda, Colón, Ezeiza, Pilar, Quilmes, Tres Arroyos, Zárate and several others, with individual allocations ranging from tens to over two billion pesos.
