Governor Julio Menchaca boosts water supply in Pachuca with new wells and infrastructure
Governor Julio Menchaca Salazar announced that the state has built ten new water wells in the Pachuca metropolitan area, with an eleventh under construction. The newest well, delivering 34 liters per second, will serve about 18,000 residents in Pachuca and Mineral de la Reforma.
Through the intermunicipal Water and Sewerage Commission (Caasim), the administration has invested MXN 2.96 billion in water projects in the region, compared with MXN 893 million spent by the two previous administrations combined. Over the past four years, MXN 5.239 billion has been allocated to hydraulic works statewide, including modernization of the 49‑year‑old Tezontle and Nopancalco pump plants, which reclaimed 50 L/s of water flow, and the construction of four new storage tanks ranging from 281 to 828 m³. Additional upgrades included 5 19 biometric check‑in devices, 519 computers and other IT equipment for the agency.
