Governor Lorena Cuéllar launches massive disability aid program in Tlaxcala

Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros of the Mexican state of Tlaxcala led the distribution of functional aids for people with disabilities under the state's Programa Ayudas Funcionales. The administration aims to deliver 13,000 aids this year, backed by a state investment of more than 20 million pesos. Over the past four and a half years the program has provided more than 60,000 functional aids and 20,000 economic supports, expanding from a single aid per person to up to three free functional aids per beneficiary.

Cuéllar noted that Tlaxcala moved from last place nationally in aid delivery to become a national reference. The governor also highlighted the newly built Centro de Rehabilitación Integral (CRIAT), a 550‑million‑peso rehabilitation centre built entirely with state funds and using a unique Teletón model, which she said will change the lives of thousands of disabled residents.
