Yucatán allocates 31 new security vehicles to 30 municipalities

During the weekly session of the State Council for the Construction of Peace and Security, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena announced the delivery of 31 new proximity vehicles to 30 municipal city councils in Yucatán. The fleet, funded by a 37‑million‑peso investment from the 2026 Public Safety Contribution Fund (FASP), consists of 15‑passenger Ford Transit buses equipped with police markings, reinforced front bumpers, exterior light bars, sirens and horns.

The allocation targets municipalities including Abalá, Calotmul, Cansahcab, Chacsinkín, Chemax, Chicxulub Pueblo, Conkal, Cuncunul, Dzidzantún, Kinchil, Kopomá, Mérida, Motul, Tizimín (two units) and others, aiming to boost operational capabilities of local police forces, improve emergency response and support safe tourism during the summer season. The initiative is presented as part of the broader “Gobierno del Renacimiento Maya” strategy that will eventually provide 150 vehicles to municipal security corps and the State Health Mobility Network.

Governor Díaz Mena emphasized coordination with the federal government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and highlighted Yucatán’s reputation as Mexico’s safest state, attributing it to continuous investment in technology and the dedication of security personnel.
