U.S. Lowers Rosario Travel Alert to Lowest Risk Level

The U.S. Department of State updated its travel advisory for Argentina on July 17, 2026, keeping the country at Level 1 – "take normal precautions" – and removing the special Level 2 alert that had applied to the city of Rosario. The change reflects improved security indicators after coordinated actions by provincial Governor Maximiliano Pullaró, Rosario Mayor Pablo Javkin, national authorities and federal forces. In a statement the U.S. Embassy said the update “elimina a la ciudad de Rosario como zona específica de mayor riesgo” and aligns the city with the country's general rating. Local officials welcomed the move as international recognition of their security policies and expect it will boost tourism, investment and the ability to host large events. While crime and narcotrafficking activity remain, the city is no longer singled out for heightened warning.
