Governors in Argentina and Mexico Launch Recovery Efforts After Wildfires
Governor Gustavo Sáenz of Argentina’s Salta province toured the hardest‑hit neighborhoods on Friday, standing with fire brigades, police firefighters and volunteers as they fought multiple forest fires intensified by strong Zonda winds. He thanked the emergency teams and urged residents to take extra precautions, reminding them to report any blaze immediately to the 911 emergency system.
In Mexico’s Baja California Sur, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío visited the community of San José de Comondú to announce the start of reconstruction for 30 homes damaged by a July fire. The plan includes rebuilding ten completely destroyed houses and repairing twenty others, with state‑funded labor and private‑sector material donations, plus basic household items and ongoing food assistance for affected families.
