Goyang City advances climate neutral and future industry urban restructuring
Goyang City is advancing major urban restructuring projects aimed at transforming the region into a self-sufficient city through climate neutrality and future industry development.
To address climate crises, proposals have been made to establish a ‘Carbon Zero Forest’ model. This initiative focuses on climate neutrality by integrating green infrastructure—such as rainwater circulation systems and urban greenery—with a circular industrial ecosystem that converts waste into high-value energy and resources. This approach aims to mitigate urban heat islands and flooding while fostering ecological balance.
Simultaneously, the city is accelerating the construction of the ‘IP Convergence Content Cluster’ in Daehwa-dong, scheduled for completion in the second half of next year. This cluster is designed to support the entire lifecycle of content intellectual property (IP), including webtoons, broadcasting, and gaming, from R&D to commercialization. The project seeks to link existing assets like Ilsan Techno Valley, K-Culture Valley, and KINTEX into a unified industrial ecosystem to transition Goyang from a residential ‘bed town’ into a hub for future industries and job creation.
