Goyang City holds town hall to reduce commute times

Goyang City held a town hall meeting on September 28 to discuss strategies for reducing citizen commute times by 30 minutes. The meeting involved taxi drivers, city officials, and police representatives to address local traffic issues through a ‘one-stop feedback’ system.

Key discussion points included reorganizing signal systems in chronic congestion areas, improving dangerous road alignments, lane reallocation, and expanding safety facilities. The city plans to use a ‘fast-track’ procedure to submit urgent suggestions to the police traffic safety deliberation committee for immediate implementation.

In addition to immediate road improvements, Goyang City is pursuing long-term transportation innovations, such as launching 30 new ‘Goyang Pyeon-ha-G’ bus routes, expanding demand-responsive ‘Ttok’ buses, implementing AI-based Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), and developing mid-to-long-term railway networks.
