GPS jamming increases in Poland's Tricity region

Intentional GPS and GNSS signal jamming has increased drastically in the Tricity region of Poland since the beginning of 2026, according to data from the National Institute of Telecommunications. The interference includes both multi-hour disruptions across all bands and partial disruptions in specific bands.

During the summer peak, the impact was significant. In May and June, major disruptions occurred on approximately 70 percent of days. In the first 19 days of August, total interference was recorded on 63 percent of days, meaning satellite navigation failed roughly two out of every three days. These anomalies cause mobile devices to lose signal, display incorrect locations, or fail to calculate routes. The disruptions also affect urban transport systems, including city bikes, scooters, and fleet management, as well as drone operations and maritime navigation.

The Institute attributes these anomalies to external sources related to electronic warfare activities in the Baltic Sea region. Experts suggest the situation is permanent and will persist as long as defensive and operational activities requiring jamming signals continue in the area. Users are advised to avoid relying solely on mobile map applications and to use traditional orientation methods or offline maps.
