GPU shipments rise 10.4% in Q2 2026 driven by notebook demand
Jon Peddie Research (JPR) reports that consumer PC GPU shipments reached 75.5 million units in the second quarter of 2026, representing a 10.4% increase from the previous quarter and a 1.1% increase year-over-year. Despite a memory shortage driving up component costs, discrete GPU shipments grew by 12.2% quarter-over-quarter.
The growth was primarily driven by the mobile segment, with notebook GPU shipments rising 16.8%. In contrast, desktop GPU shipments declined by 4%. This trend mirrors the broader client CPU market, which saw a 1.1% year-over-year decrease.
Intel maintains the largest market share at 56%, largely due to integrated graphics. NVIDIA holds 23% of the market, while AMD follows with 21%, an increase from its 14% share in the previous year. Analysts suggest the rise in discrete GPU shipments may be influenced by manufacturer supply management and preemptive purchasing ahead of anticipated price increases rather than a broad recovery in consumer demand.
