Grab requested to provide pricing and commission data by Vietnam regulators

Vietnam’s National Competition Commission, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has requested Grab to provide detailed information regarding its pricing, fee, and discount policies. This action follows complaints from Grab driver partners concerning fare levels and the impact of high commissions and deductions on their actual earnings.

Drivers have reported that while some trip fares appear low or are trending downward, the costs and deductions imposed by the platform significantly reduce their take-home pay. The Commission is seeking clarification on the mechanisms used to determine and adjust these prices and fees, as well as how changes to these policies are communicated.

In addition to Grab, the Commission has requested other ride-hailing service providers in Vietnam to submit documentation regarding their pricing and fee structures for both passengers and drivers to assist in a broader review. The Commission stated it will continue to collect and verify information, and if signs of competition law violations are discovered, it will proceed with investigations and legal actions according to its authority.
