Argentina: Deputy Trotta files repudiation against Milei's attacks on press

Argentine Deputy Nicolás Trotta of Unión por la Patria has introduced a formal declaration in the Chamber of Deputies to repudiate President Javier Milei’s repeated verbal attacks against journalists. The project specifically cites insults directed at reporters Marcelo Bonelli, Manuel Jove, and Paula García. Trotta argued that these actions represent a systematic pattern of behavior that undermines public debate and institutional responsibility. The Association of Journalistic Entities of Argentina (ADEPA) also issued a statement condemning the President’s rhetoric, warning that such language intimidates the free exercise of the press.

Separately, political tension continues regarding the nation's economic direction and judicial landscape. Provincial Deputy Agustín Samaniego criticized President Milei for being “divorced from reality,” arguing that the government’s positive economic indicators do not reflect the struggles of the majority of the population. Meanwhile, former senator Oscar Parrilli addressed the potential political impact of judicial proceedings against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, suggesting that political opponents are attempting to use the justice system to influence future elections.

In Santa Fe, Economy Minister Pablo Olivares warned that economic reactivation is impossible without improving household incomes and consumption. He also announced a commitment from financial entities to adjust credit card payment deadlines for state employees to provide financial relief.
