Graeme Dott convicted of sexually abusing two children
Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of sexually abusing two primary school-aged children following a five-day trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The 49-year-old was convicted of two counts of lewd, indecent, and libidinous behaviour.
The court heard evidence regarding two separate periods of abuse. The first victim, a woman now in her 40s, was targeted between 1993 and 1996. The second victim, a man now in his late 20s, was abused between 2006 and 2010. Testimony detailed inappropriate touching, kissing, and instances where Dott exposed himself to the children.
Following the verdict, Dott was remanded in custody. His sentencing is scheduled for September 29 in Edinburgh. In response to the legal proceedings, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) revoked Dott's membership and requested his removal from the World Snooker Tour hall of fame.
Detective Inspector Gary Smillie of Police Scotland described Dott as a “dangerous individual,” noting the bravery of the victims in coming forward.
