Grafterburners wins Sydney Stakes at Randwick

Grafterburners secured a victory in the Sydney Stakes at Randwick, winning the 1200m race by a length and a half. Guided by jockey Nash Rawiller, the colt defeated the favourite Marhoona, with Overpass finishing third.

Trainer Kelly Schweida noted that the decision to bypass an Everest slot in favor of this $2 million consolation race proved successful. Schweida explained that the team preferred to avoid competing against formidable opponents like Ka Ying Rising and Tempted in the $20 million feature. Following this performance, Schweida expressed interest in campaigning the colt in the upcoming Champions Sprint at Flemington in Melbourne.
