Gramado Film Festival Announces 'Emergência 53' Pre‑Screening and Kikito de Cristal Honorees

The 54th Gramado Film Festival will run from 12 to 22 August in the Serra Gaúcha, with the official opening on 14 August at the Palácio dos Festivais. The festival revealed that the Brazilian series “Emergência 53”, directed by Andrucha Waddington and Claudio Torres, will have its pre‑premiere on 17 August in the same venue. The ten‑episode drama follows doctors, nurses and drivers of a mobile emergency unit.

Honors announced include actress Andrea Beltrão receiving the Oscarito Trophy, producer Renata Almeida Magalhães receiving the Eduardo Abelin Trophy, and actor Marcos Caruso being awarded the Troféu Cidade de Gramado. Selton Mello and Maria Fernanda Cândido will each receive the Kikito de Cristal, the first time the award is shared by two artists in the same edition. The festival also disclosed the official competition selections for documentaries, Gaúcho feature films and twelve short films from across Brazil.

The event highlights Brazil’s cinematic landscape, featuring works that have earned international recognition, such as the series’ recent awards at the Italian Global Series festival and the Berlinale Series Market.
