Gramado Film Festival holds 54th edition in Brazil

The 54th Festival de Cinema de Gramado is currently underway in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, running from August 12 to August 22. The event features 74 films, including 44 titles competing for the prestigious Kikito awards. The official opening film is ‘Antártida’, directed by Bruno Safadi and starring Marina Ruy Barbosa.

One of the highlighted competitive feature films is ‘Feito Pipa’, directed by Allan Deberton and starring Lázaro Ramos. The film explores themes of gender and memory, following a young boy named Gugu and his relationship with his grandmother. The production was filmed in the Ceará region.

The festival also includes a competitive showcase for regional short films from Rio Grande do Sul, covering various genres such as animation and westerns. Red carpet events continue to draw prominent Brazilian actors and directors to the Palácio dos Festivais.
