Gramado ranks as Brazil's third most popular travel destination
Gramado, located in the Sierra Gaúcha region of Rio Grande do Sul, has solidified its position as a major tourism hub in Brazil. According to the Braztoa Bulletin, the city ranked as the third most sold national destination in Brazil during the first half of 2026, trailing only São Paulo and Maceió.
The city is noted for its European-influenced architecture and culture, stemming from late 19th-century Italian, German, and Portuguese colonization. This heritage is reflected in its alpine-style chalets, local gastronomy, and regional products. Gramado hosts significant annual events, including the Gramado Film Festival, which features the “Kikito” awards, and the “Natal Luz” Christmas celebration.
Data from Braztoa also highlights Gramado’s growing international appeal. The city consistently appears among the top destinations for foreign tourists during peak periods, such as the January-February and July holiday seasons, ranking alongside other major Brazilian attractions like Foz do Iguaçu and Porto de Galinhas.
