Gran Meliá offers private yacht viewing of the August 12 total solar eclipse in Mallorca and Menorca

Meliá Hotels International marked its 70th anniversary by creating two exclusive eclipse‑watching packages on 12 August. Guests at the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá in Mallorca will sail on a private Rivamare yacht, while visitors at Villa Le Blanc Gran Meliá in Menorca will board a traditional llaut. Both vessels will position guests in the centre of the eclipse’s path of totality, allowing a clear view of the Sun’s complete obscuration between 20:27 and 20:33 local time, just before sunset. The experience combines private navigation, overnight accommodation, gourmet dining and cultural programming, and coincides with the peak of the Perseids meteor shower.

The packages are part of the hotel chain’s celebration of its founding in Palma de Mallorca in 1956 and aim to attract tourists seeking a premium astronomical event in the Mediterranean.
